Considering going to trade school for HVAC work

A few years later I am still slaving away in this pit of despair and Joe owns his own HVAC contractor business, and I am more than a little jealous

Some people live to work, but I on the other hand work to live. In other words, I hate my job and I always have, and I see it purely as a means to an end. I work to make money, not because I like it or that it fulfills me in any way. I actually despise my job with the burning passion of a thousand suns, but until I find another way to pay the bills I don’t see any way out. Back in the day my buddy Joe started up his own business, but I decided to take any office job instead. He was going to trade school to study HVAC repair, and honestly I just wanted to get in the job scene and start making money. A few years later I am still slaving away in this pit of despair and Joe owns his own HVAC contractor business, and I am more than a little jealous. Joe gets to set his own hours, be his own boss, and make good money in the heating and cooling industry, and I get none of those things! I asked him if it was too late for me to become an A/C tech, and he told me it was never too late. All I need to do is go to trade school, spend a few months studying heating and cooling systems, and he will put me on the job! That would mean going a few months with no pay while I study A/C repair, though, and I can’t afford that.
