How difficult can it be to have central air conditioning installed in my house

After they were able to do this, the HVAC technician had to punch holes through the brick to run all of the pipes and wires to the outside unit.

I am a man that just wants certain things, and I just don’t understand how things can be so complicated. I love my old house. It is a brick house, and it has had many additions over the years. I have had a ton of work done to it, and right now, I want to have central air conditioning installed in the house. I know that it could be quite a project, but apparently, it will cost me a fortune to have this HVAC unit installed. When I looked up estimated prices online, the HVAC websites gave me what I considered to be a fair rating. However, when I had the HVAC technician come to my house, he gave me a much higher price. Apparently, since it is an old brick house, installing central air conditioning is much harder. The HVAC technician told me that I would have to hire an electrician to run a heavy duty wire underneath the house, which would be difficult because no human alive could fit through my crawl space. The electrician labored for nearly a week to install the wire for the air conditioning. After they were able to do this, the HVAC technician had to punch holes through the brick to run all of the pipes and wires to the outside unit. Everything was going well until I realize that my old house didn’t have a ton of vents because they didn’t install them in the oldest part of the house. This meant that the air conditioner would only work in certain parts of the house, completely ruining my whole plan. They told me that they had no other options for the air conditioner unless I wanted ductless mini-split air conditioners. I am so frustrated.
