My big brother is the type of man that typically tries to find a bargain.
He cares about to go to estate sales, flea markets, plus swap meets and yard sales.
I admit there are a lot of good deals, but occasionally he does not make the best decisions in life. Not that many weeks ago, my brother encountered a guy with a van full of air conditioners. They were all current in the box for only fifty dollars each! Each of the air conditioners retail price was almost $300. I knew my big brother was really purchasing stolen air conditioners, however he did not seem to care. All of us had a detailed discussion about the purchase, plus I urged my big brother to reconsider the sketchy deal. Still, he provided the shady guy $820 plus took all of the property. When the local police showed up at his front door, he changed his tune. Now my big brother has to hire a criminal defense attorney to prove that he did not know the air conditioners had been stolen. The criminal defense attorney advised a $4,000 retainer to take the case. My brother could have used a public defender, however he decided to empty his 401k to pay for an attorney. My big brother will be dealing with this for a while, plus I bet it’s a long time before he purchases something stupid again. I don’t think that my big brother will serve any time, because the lawyer has a good track record. If nothing else, my big brother will really have to pay a great plus serve some community service minutes. I easily hope that’s enough for him to learn a good lesson.
