After I turned 18, I started looking for a job.
I was desperate to buy a vehicle, plus I needed to save up enough for the buying price plus insurance.
I filled out job paperwork at all of the local businesses. I never thought that the shoe store, pharmacy, grocery shop plus hardware store are all air conditioned. I was so worried for a paycheck that I took the first task I was provided. I ended up undoubtedly working at the ice cream parlor, where I gained how to make sundaes, milkshakes, hamburgers, warm food plus french fries. The building is entirely small, with no indoor chairs. There is barely sufficient location for all the ice cream machines, coolers, grills, deep fryers, dishwasher plus restroom. The orders are taken plus the food delivered through an open window. There is no use for A/C to keep clients content. Plus, the cold air would just escape through the doors. We respectfully ran a few box fans at maximum capacity non stop. The fans didn’t make up for the lack of a central cooing. The heat plus humidity inside that little building was upsetting. The temperature frequently climbed into the triple digits. We’d leave the back door open plus wish for a breeze to cool us down. The fryers, ovens plus heat coming off the machines made the situation more heated. I was also required to don on a uniform that was heavy, thick plus uncomfortable. At the end of every shift, I was at all times drenched with sweat. I’d rush to my car plus get the air conditioner blasting.
