Other than the air conditioner appliance situation, she adjusted to life here fairly hastily, although to be fair both of us didn’t go out all that often
When my fiance Valeria first moved here from overseas, there was a time period of adjustment. After a year or so, She is finally getting more comfortable and settling in, but for a while it was a great deal of touch and go… There was the cultural element of course, because Val speaks fantastic English, but she was still out of her element entirely and studying new words and phrases every afternoon. She also had to become adjusted to the foods she could find, and of course the temperature. She was not actually ready for this kind of heat and humidity, and the poor thing was actually living next to an A/C appliance for numerous months! She knew all about the temperature in this location, but it’s a single thing to know it and another to experience it. It turns out she was not easily ready for these hot and cold temperatures and humidity levels. The central AC stayed operating for several months straight, even at night when it totally cooled off, because it was humid 24/7. I actually rearranged the residing room and the bedroom areas, so that her side of the bed and her preferred chair were situated under HVAC vents. Other than the air conditioner appliance situation, she adjusted to life here fairly hastily, although to be fair both of us didn’t go out all that often. Once Winter time arrives I hope the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C appliance becomes less necessary, so I can show the lady around. Where she comes from it rarely gets over 69 degrees even on the warmest afternoon, and her family had never owned an A/C ever before. I am hoping the cooler weather will finally break her reliance on the air conditioner, but I suppose we will see.
