Working out with personal trainer to lose weight

My whole family is overweight. My parents, siblings, aunts, uncles and cousins are all larger people. The majority are so overweight that they have health concerns such as diabetes. I was raised in a house where there were always snacks available. The cupboards were full of potato chips, candy, cookies and all sorts of packaged foods. Our dinners were often picked up from the drive-thru. We ordered a lot of pizza. I was never encouraged to be active or join sports. As the chubby kid in school, I was self-conscious and shy. I hated gym class and lacked the courage to try out for any of the sports teams. It wasn’t until my third year of college that I finally decided to make some changes. The college I attended included an impressive fitness center with every imaginable type of machine, equipment and apparatus. Unfortunately, I had no idea how to use them. I wasn’t sure how to get started on my quest to get into shape. I visited the gym, walked around and felt horribly intimidated. I am so thankful that I noticed a flyer on the bulletin board advertising the services of a personal trainer. Making that phone call changed my life. The first few sessions with the personal trainer were extremely difficult. I was so exhausted and sore that I nearly gave up. Because the trainer was so supportive and encouraging, I kept at it and began to notice improvement. I suddenly felt stronger and had more stamina and flexibility. I took my trainer’s recommendations for changing my eating habits and lost a considerable amount of weight.
